Q: What program/degree are you pursuing at San Jac, and when will you graduate?

A: Associate degree in business administration. I graduate this summer and am walking across the stage in the December commencement.

Q: Share your San Jac story:

A: As a first-generation student, the supportive environment, excellent academic programs, and affordable tuition at San Jacinto College encouraged me to attend. The College’s commitment to student success and its diverse community made it an ideal choice for my educational journey, helping me navigate the challenges of being the first in my family to pursue higher education.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about your time at San Jac?

A: I experienced unparalleled academic and personal growth, supported by a diverse and inclusive community. The College’s dedicated faculty and comprehensive resources empowered me to achieve my educational goals and build a strong foundation for my future.

Q: Do you want to give a shoutout to any faculty or staff who supported you?

A: Yes, a shoutout to an amazing advisor, Ms. Emmy Sehmann. She no longer works at San Jac, but she helped ease my path to transferring to the University of Houston-Downtown.

Q: What’s next for you?

A: My next step is to attend the University of Houston-Downtown for my bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting.

Q: What advice would you give someone else who wants to start at San Jac, then transfer?

A: As a first-generation student, you are breaking barriers and creating a new path. Embrace the challenges and triumphs, for you are setting the stage for a brighter future for yourself and those who follow.
