PASADENA, Texas – The San Jacinto College and LyondellBasell Hollywood Nights Gala presented by the Sinor Family was held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology at San Jacinto College.

The black-tie affair, hosted by the San Jacinto College Foundation, raised nearly $680,000 in support of the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship. The evening celebrated the real stars – San Jacinto College students – on their quest to achieve their educational goals.

“We are so grateful to everyone who supported and attended the gala,” said Robert Cage, Executive Director of the San Jacinto College Foundation. “We thank the title sponsor LyondellBasell, the presenting sponsor the Sinor Family, and each of our additional sponsors for committing to support San Jacinto College students. The evening was a great night of networking, fellowship, and most importantly, fundraising for San Jacinto College students.”

The Hollywood Nights Gala featured a cocktail and networking hour where guests interacted with students, bid on silent auction items, took part in a gift card punch wall, and enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks. A three-course dinner followed, along with remarks, the presentation of the Legacy Award, and a live auction that raised more than $30,000.

LyondellBasell was the recipient of this year’s Legacy Award for their continued commitment to the College through scholarships and training programs that support the region’s economy.

The Promise @ San Jac Scholarship is open to all high school seniors who live in the San Jacinto College taxing district, regardless of GPA and family income. Students must meet deadlines for pledging and applying to San Jac, complete all financial aid documents by the stated deadline, and enroll at the College on time in order receive the scholarship. Students must also enroll full time for the fall semester after high school graduation and complete their certificate or degree within three years. The Promise @ San Jac Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, books, and supplies so that students don’t have to worry about paying for college.

“We exceeded our fundraising goal for the gala and are now nearly 80 percent to our goal of $30 million for the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship,” added Cage. “I express my sincere thanks to everyone who supported the gala, especially our host, auction, and planning committees. On behalf of the San Jacinto College Foundation Board of Directors, the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees, and our students, thank you.”
