Dr. Huong Lê joined San Jacinto College – North Campus as a full-time sociology professor in 2018. She has taught: Introduction to Sociology, Minority Studies and Social Problems. She has experience teaching face-to-face and online (synchronous and asynchronous). She is also an Honors Program instructor and assists in recruiting efforts.

In addition to her role in the classroom, Dr. Lê is heavily involved on campus via Faculty Senate and often serves on committees and task forces to represent faculty input and assist in implementation of new processes. She has served as an advisor for student organizations. Dr. Lê is a part of the MOSAIC Program as part of the planning team and a mentor, fostering relationships with first generation college students to assist in academic success and personal growth. Within the Social & Behavioral Science department, she contributes in mentoring adjunct faculty.

Dr. Lê received all her degrees from Texas A&M University (College Station). She has a BA, MS & PhD in Sociology. As an undergraduate, she minored in French! In graduate school, Dr. Lê specialized in research methods and social psychology with a focus on identity. Her master’s thesis studied the first-generation college student identity, with a focus on academic success and retention. Her dissertation focused on shifting sexual identity and the impact on mental health outcomes.
