The Opportunity High School Diploma (OHSD) allows adult students in career and technical education programs at community colleges to earn a high school diploma.* Students earn their diploma at the same time they earn a career degree or certificate. We have dozens of programs to choose from, so it's a great way to maximize your time.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board manages the program. *Texas Education Code establishes that the OHSD is equivalent to a high school diploma awarded by a public school district.
The OHSD has five areas of focus: civics, communication skills, math, scientific reasoning, and workplace success skills.
When you're ready, we'll assess your level in each of these five areas. At the end of the program, we'll assess you again. If you are proficient in the five areas, we'll award you the state diploma.
With this program, students may show documentation of previous learning. This might include:
Official high school grades
College credits
SAT or ACT results
Military service
Demonstrated success on assessments you take when you enroll
