Satisfactory Academic Progress Calculator

Satisfactory Academic Progress Calculator

This calculator will help you project your cumulative completion rate and cumulative GPA, as measured by Financial Aid SAP Standards. You will need to pull information from your unofficial transcript. To do this, click on Students and then select Unofficial Web Transcript.

Please note that credits you have passed repeatedly that cannot be counted more than once toward your program of study are excluded from your passed credits. However, they are included in your attempted credits. Check the "repeated course" box if BOTH of the following conditions apply:

  1. You've earned credit for this course in the past (i.e., received a grade of 'D-' or higher or 'P') and
  2. This course is not marked as "Repeatable" in the course catalog for your program.

IMPORTANT:

This calculator does not include maximum timeframe requirements. Students reach maximum timeframe when attempted credits exceed 150% of the time it normally takes to complete your program. Example: If an associate degree requires 60 credits to complete, aid can only be received up to 90 credits (including transfer credits). Once you reach maximum timeframe, this calculator does not apply.

While this calculator will provide you with your term completion rate and term GPA, this is for your information only and is not a measurement of SAP. Your cumulative results will appear in the colored box below.

Understanding Your Results

After using the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Calculator, you'll see key results related to your financial aid eligibility:

  1. Cumulative GPA or Projected GPA
If your GPA is below 2.0, you may be at risk of losing financial aid. You'll need to improve your grades to meet the minimum requirement.
  2. Completion Rate (Pace of Progression)
If your completion rate is below 67%, it means you're not completing enough of the courses you attempt. To remain eligible for financial aid, you need to raise this percentage by completing more courses successfully.
  3. Next Steps
If your GPA or completion rate is below the required standards, you may be placed on warning or suspension. Reach out to the Financial Aid Office for more information on how your results can affect your financial aid eligibility.

Maximum Timeframe Information

You are required to complete your program within 150% of the published credit hours for your degree or certificate. This includes credits from any major changes or if you are pursuing multiple degrees or certificates. To calculate your maximum timeframe, follow these steps:

  1. Visit our Degrees and Certificates page.
  2. Choose your program from the list.
  3. Select the "Plan of Study" tab to see the total credits required for your program.
  4. Multiply that total by 1.5 to find the maximum timeframe allowed to complete your program.

Important: All attempted credit hours, including transfer credits, are included in the maximum timeframe calculation.
