Prospective applicant Information

Applicant Eligibility Requirements 
  • Must have resided continuously in one of the independent school districts (Channelview, Deer Park, Galena Park, La Porte, Pasadena, and Sheldon) comprising the San Jacinto Community College District, six months prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot.
  • Must have resided continuously in the state of Texas for 12 months immediately preceding the filing deadline (February 12, 2027).
  • Must be a qualified registered voter.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must not be a convicted felon.
  • Must be aware of the nepotism law.
  • Must serve without compensation.
  • Must not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgement court.

Deadline to File Candidate Application

  • First Day to File: January 13, 2027

  • Last Day to File: February 12, 2027 by 5 p.m.

Taxpayers can visit the Harris Central Appraisal District website to search your name, account number, or property address to determine if your property/residence is in the San Jacinto College taxing district. If it is, you are eligible to vote in the upcoming runoff election.
