Continuing & Professional Development Policies

Before you begin Continuing Education classes, also known as Continuing & Professional Development (CPD), here are a few policies about attendance, registration, and background checks that you’ll need to know.

Policies

  • We require photo identification for in-person registrations.
Se require ID para todas las registraciones en persona.
  • Information within the schedule is subject to the policies and procedures of the San Jacinto College District and may change without notice.
  • All courses are taught in English, unless specified otherwise.
  • Classes may be canceled if enrollment is low.
  • Instructors, room assignments, and building locations may be changed as conditions warrant.
  • Students must attend the class section they’ve registered for.
  • Staff and instructors provide information, not advice.
  • San Jacinto College requires that its instructors not solicit business for personal gain in the classroom. Any business transaction resulting from a class is the responsibility of the student, not the College.
  • ESL assessments will not be started after 5 p.m.

Background Checks and Drug Screenings

Some programs require these checks and screenings. Learn which may apply to you.

A criminal background may keep you from being licensed by the State of Texas. If you have a question about your background and licensure, please speak with a faculty member or department chair. You also have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the applicable licensing agency.

A criminal background check is required to participate in a clinical assignment. This is a requirement of all clinical facilities in the Houston/Gulf Coast area, as mandated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The approximate cost of the screening is less than $60. Background check through Precheck.com is required at time of registration.

Drug screening through Precheck.com is required at the time of registration for the phlebotomy program. The approximate cost of the drug screening is $50.
